ETA: I hate copy-editing, especially my own translations. I have the feeling that I no longer have anysprachgefühl speech feeling sense of English usage (see what I mean?), at least for academic prose, which unfortunately is what I'm trying to produce. Also, I have somehow managed to turn the language setting in Word off, permanently, for the document I'm reviewing. This is annoying, especially as when I want to turn it off for blocks of Middle High German or Latin, it won't stay off and keeps autocorrecting my endings into gibberish....

May. 5th, 2008 11:25 amI'm considering getting an 'internet using mobile as modem' package (though this may prevent me using VPN software, as it requires that you go through a special connection manager, which would be a pain) but am currently struggling to work out if I access more than 4,000 web pages in a month, when at home, and how the devil I work this out, other than by keeping a tally on paper for a few days - except I can't, because I don't have reliable internet access at home....
And yes, I know there's nothing particularly helpful you lot can contribute to this; I just have no head for numbers. Arithmetic was always my worst subject at school (though oddly enough, I'm rather good at maths when I'm in practice).

Jan. 22nd, 2008 11:17 amFor now, I'd like to pick the flist's collective brains about computer hardware. I'd like to buy an external harddrive, as my photo collection is getting out of hand (I run Mac OS 10.3 on an iBook G4). Anyone have any reccommendations?
I'd also really like to know what the hell I did with my USB stick after I last backed up my work... but I suspect I'm on my own resources, there!
