Is murder always wrong?

Even murdering someone who spills coffee all over a new but much loved cashmere/ silk sweater?

ETA: it seems, touch wood, to have come out, though it will be hard to tell till it dries properly. And now, I suppose, I should do some work, rather than laundry or revenge fantasies...

Lucky for the offender that the sweater washed well. If not, I'm sure many judges would have been sympathetic to someone who murdered in the cause of a light blue silk/cashmere mix.

I'd be livid; one gets very attached to quality items. Almost had to off myself after I spilt gunk on a black velvet top of mine on its first outing.

As it turned out, I managed to clean it (in my washhandbasin!), using a combination of vanish stick, mineral water (at the suggestion of my mothe, who doesn't trust Southern water not to be full of dodgy chemicals which might react oddly) and plain cold tap water. So I shall let the offender live.

But yes, it's oddly upsetting ruining things you're attached to. I nearly cried last time I broke a cup I liked (mind you, I wasn't in that good a place emotionally at the time, but still...)

You reminded me that I did a lot of washing that way as a student; I avoided the communal washing machine after I found it full of polyester bloomers (knee length!), and realised I knew their owner - this was 1990 not 1910.

If you kill someone who destroys your clothes, does it count as murder at all? I'd say that was cruelty to animals at the very most!

In the circumstances, i.e. that it came clean, I have decided to let the insect live (after all, bloodstains are pretty hard to shift, too!)
