Oh, and Granny had a mini-stroke today. We're told it's nothing to worry about, and the hospital checked her out and sent her home. Might be the result of the change of medication.

Not good, though :( .

No, it doesn't seem to be that unusual. I'm hoping that the GP will be able to explain what happened with the medication.

How can one NOT worry about a stroke? Even a mini stroke? They should call it something else.

Although I must agree with prelud -- shouldn't anything with involving a stroke, mini- or otherwise, be cause for some worry?

Yes, poor old Granny!

I think they meant 'don't worry about it' in the sense that it doesn't seem to have done any lasting damage (actually, the facial paralysis and apahsia had passed off by the time the ambulance arrived), and it probably won't recurr. But yes, it does suggest that her medication needs looked at again.

In my experience, being told something is nothing to worry about rarely correlates with one feeling able to stop worrying. Hope that things settle down soon.

I'm so sorry to hear that- how has it affected her?

Well, she was frightened by it, of course, but the actual symptoms (paralysis, aphasia) had passed off by the time the ambulance arrived, and she passed all the tests at the hospital with no sign of confusion, speech difficulty, or worrying physical symptoms. It seems to have been a very mild one. The GP was making a house call this afternoon, so we're waiting to hear what she said.
