Those of you who subscribe to Language Log have probably already seen this, but if you haven't, click, read and marvel at a short tale of one man convinced he can talk to chickens:

It doesn't mention whether or not chickens have a concept of religion, but it still reminded me of [livejournal.com profile] dolorous_ett's apocalyptic chicken cult fic....

I never realised before that when I tread on a cat's tail, the wail is not of pain, but a grammatically structured sentence meaning "Get off my tail, you clumsy oaf, or Ill claw out your useless eyes!"

Wow... talking chickens AND being referenced!

Though I'm quite certain that chickens have a much greater understanding of grammar and syntax than some of the subjects of the oral tests I did yesterday...
