Wait, how did Becky Chambers beat out Yoon Ha Lee and Aliette de Bodard for best series? How?

Come to that, while I don't think Charlie Stross' Laundry Files are as creative as Lee or de Bodard's work, I'd have put his solidly ahead of Chambers'.

(I don't even dislike the Wayfayrers series, it's just... really slight. And I bet is going to feel really dated really quickly).

I did dislike Chambers' books -- well, the half of the one I read -- and I feel like this is the Hugos equivalent of La La Land winning the BAFTA for Best Film.

No idea! Yoon Ha Lee is rather amazing, and Aliette de Bodard is a delight.

It's a very silly decision. Although someone - I think it was Camestros Felaptron - pointed out that 'best series' is a classic place where well loved series whose individual volumes weren't strong enough to win a best novel get rewarded, which made me feel a bit better. Though I think in that case Charlie Stross was robbed....
