2 baffles me a bit too, and I'm not sure where exactly Eormenric fits in, except he was a Goth and involved in a rather nasty blood feud... but that's enough context to make it funny. It was the Erik Bloodaxe one that really amused me, though - I've always had a soft spot for him, though I'm glad I never had to deal with him in person.
