Currently Reading

Peter Ackroyd on Venice.

Also trying to teach myself some phrases of Spanish from Say it In Spanish, although I cannot concieve of ever needing to say "Can you recommend a good cook?", and I sincerely hope I won't need "I have typhoid fever"...

Reading Next
Heffers had a sale of fiction in translation, so I shall probably read Bulgakov, Diary of a Young Doctor next.

Try Hugo's "Spanish in 3 Months" instead. It did me very well travelling round northern Spain for two weeks, even booking train tickets (and understanding the explanation that for a laughably small supplement we could travel the day we wanted to in first class) and having conversations with dog owners.
