I am very tired and have generally had quite a hard weekend...

On the other hand, I've just discovered Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkorsigan novels. I'm surprised they've passed me by thus far, but I'm glad to have made their acquaintance now.

And with that, I will shortly take myself off to bed with 'Barrayar'.

I like them - this despite having heard them cried up in language no book could ever hope to live up to (they didn't) - so I'll leave it to you to sing their praises...

I was fortunate, in that I've never heard them praised to that extent, so I had few expectations to shatter. But there are times when a spot of superior space opera is definitely a good and cheering thing.
