Further to [livejournal.com profile] sammee42's discussion, a while back, of home schooling, I can state that I've found another drawback.

One of my housemates - the Classicist, not either of the two mentioned earlier - who was homeschooled at primary level, has just come down with chickenpox, never having caught it at school. He's not a very happy bunny, especially as he now will have to rearrange all his tutes and classes, as he can't very well risk passing it on to the students....

Interesting. I actually had chicken pox when I was four: caught it from a girl at church. Perhaps your housemate just didn't get out enough?

I see. I never knew any homeschooler who never had chicken pox, so I guess it goes to show that homeschoolers have got to mix with the general population!! :)

It's definitely a moral lesson on how you can't protect your children from the world by isolating them from it!
