Where on earth is that? I was under the impression that most of the stupider cults had been firmly stamped on c. the Counter-Reformation.

I was alwys amused by the fact that Luther's aristocratic protector was happy to go along with defying the church, changing the liturgy, etc., etc. - but got rather upset when Luther told him that he ought to get rid of his expensive relic collection, which included 'straw from the cradle at Bethlehem' and 'examples of the Blessed Virgin Mary's embroidery'
