I can't get DW to upload photos direct from my hard disk (i.e., without posting them to LJ or to some sort of photo-hosting site first). This is annoying me - but am I missing something really obvious?

I think DW have been talking about providing photo hosting but as far as I know, they haven't put together the functionality for it yet.

Nope, that's because DW doesn't do hosting.

flickr is free for a basic account, and you can use it to insert pics using the <img src="whatever"> code, or you can set it up to blog with picture directly from flickr. A modest annual payment gets you a 'pro' account, which lets you have more sets of pictures and other features.
