Canon query about last night's Who

This review (ware spoilers) by Mark Lawson suggests that the woman in white was the Doctor's mother.

Is ML simply pulling things out of thin air? I certainly didn't notice anything which would have suggested that - my personal theory was that she was Susan - but then, our tv reception is pretty ropey, and I'm sure I missed the odd detail through the snow...

I think there may have been something in pre-publicity but it never occurred to me that was the explanation (at one point last night I was quoting Flecker; "And one night or the other night will come the Gardener in White/And gathered flowers are dead, Jasmine" and that seemed to make as much sense as anything).

We were guessing Susan or Romana.

Yes, that would be my best guess. Susan for choice.

More likely Susan than Romana, since Romana is in E-Space and (last I recall) there wasn't any way to come back from there.
