So when dressing this morning, I discovered that I had spent an unknown portion of yesterday with bloodstains on the back of my skirt (which is a rather nice light sand; it's a trekking skirt and my favourite garment for summer weather, because it's light and cool and has decent pockets).

Graaah. I hope it wasn't too obvious. And also, I hope they come out...

I have both been there and done that, and am very glad that those days (for me) are over, so I sympathise wholly.

Vanish is actually very good for bloodstains, though a soak in cold salt water will usually work just as well.

Yes, I'm trying the salt water method.

... and yeah, I think I could be quite happy without periods.

Last week I managed to stain my knickers right up to the waistband while leaving my jeans untouched (don't ask how). I made an emergency underwear run to M&S at lunchtime, and met two of the boys from my team getting sandwiches on my way out. I'm very glad that I prompted the girl on the till to give me a bag...

Oh dear, yes, just as well! I'm all for cutting down on plastic bags, but there are times when discretion is preferable to greenness...
