In other news, I have just discovered that I washed and tumble-dried my favourite cashmere-silk turquoise pullover. Astonishingly, it came out unharmed, and looking like new.

I've usually been able to get away with maching washing wool, unless it was a very loose knit. But tumble drying? I'm amazed.

I have occasionally tumble dried wool socks by accident, and they have been okay.
