Thank you to everyone who sent me Christmas cards, by the way - they are all lovely (and I have an excuse to keep the ones I didn't get till today up till Candlemas, which is cheerful).

Particular thanks to carlanime for the most unusual Christmas card I have ever received, and juno_magic for the fabulous pictures. In a strange way (given that they're in a different medium) they rather remind me of Arthur Rackham.

I was a bit worried, as my pidge was ridiculously full (and in fact some of the cards had got bent), but the envelope you'd used was sufficiently tough, and they're absolutely fine!

Although, come to think of it, I think it genuinely was more in touch with the spirit of Christmas than the ghastly one someone sent mum which showed the Nativity, rather improbably, taking place just below Calvary, with the caption 'The reason for the season'....

I mean: yes, in a sense, sort of. But somehow at Christmas it's not what I want to think about.

Sort of sums it up (actually, I'd be imclined to say that the point is the Incarnation; but then I suspect that the producer of the cards is a strict believer in penal substition, and would think my soteriology* frightfully wet and liberal...)
