I hate our cooker. There is a separate button - distinct from the dial, and labelled with a non-intuitive pictogram - which you have to push to turn the oven on. So all this time I thought the oven was heating up (it being the first time I've used it since I got back), it wasn't. And I am very hungry.

I hate electric cookers. You're never in any doubt as to whether gas is on or not. And, of course, if it were an AGA....

Ah, Aga love! My parents had a coke one. I still remember watching my dad feeding it.

I used to live in a house with an Aga. I miss it tremendously (made the best toast in the world, and the chops and roasts were pretty good, too.) I would like to have one when I have my own house, but I think that's doomed to remain a fantasy...

I nearly gassed my corridor when I first started university, because (coming from an Aga household) I'd remembered to press the button to ignite the gas, but didn't know to check that it had actually lit. Agas have many great features, but they do not equip one to deal with modern cookers :)

Oh dear, I'm glad it was only 'nearly' (Hurrah for North Sea gas)... I've fed myself now, so that's all right.

I still hate the cooker, though.

Well, fortunately someone else noticed the smell of gas after, um, about forty-five minutes, so I was forced to sit with my door and windows opened to vent the corridor (this being a building in which the kitchens were in the central part of the block with no external access at all...) as punishment *g*.

Agas are just so much *friendlier*, you know?
