Barenboim's 'Ring' at Bayreuth's quite good, isn't it?

I think I have to buy a Ring. Which only leaves working out whether to go for Böhm, Knappertbusch, Barenboim or someone else (the Fürtwangler recording with the dodgy sound quality which Radio 3 informs me is 'cheap'.

Probably not Solti.

Actually, all this leaves is for me to find the money, but hey...

Don't forget to tell us all about it when you do get the Ring - I'd very much like to know more about Wagner.

So would I! I'm not at all what you would call an expert (actually, Wagner appears to be the only classical composer with anything like a 'fandom' - hides and expects to be proved wrong... I do sincerely hope that there's not much fanfic, since as the Ring has canon incest, I dread to think what could happen

The recording reviews are quite fun - no-one does quietly waspish snark like Radio 3...
