Mar. 23rd, 2008 03:36 pmChrist is risen!
Happy Easter to all those willing to accept such good wishes:)
Also: there's something odd but rather splendid about praying around the Easter fire while surrounded by an inch of snow and more falling....

Date: 2008-03-23 03:48 pm (UTC)Snow has been falling here, near Newcastle, but it melts on contact with the ground, sadly. Driving a bit further north for lunch, though, the tops of the Cheviots could be seen, standing out white against the grey sky.

Date: 2008-03-24 12:51 pm (UTC)For us it was just starting to snow as we lit the fire but by the time we finished the service there was a good inch on the ground and by the time we got home about 2½ inches. Ely Cathedral follows the 5:30am service with a celebration breakfast and it was quite fun watching the Dean and the Cannon Missioner have a snowball fight with some of the kids who'd been at church. Apparently it was the Dean who started it by offering the kids 10p if they hit the Cannon with a snow ball! It took us forty minutes to drive the 12 miles back from the Cathedral. We passed on going to our parish church as the road was going to be too treacherous.
