Auden!

The Grauniad selection of Auden, with a foreword by Rowan Williams and some cuttings from the archive. A mix of some familar and some quite obscure stuff (well, to me, anyway). Though I wish the Guardian website didn't stick adverts half way through the poems....

In other exciting Anglican bishop related news (don't fall asleep!), here's a disturbing yet funny .... er, thing (audio warning!) that the Bishop of Buckingham found on the internet. Good for your mental health, allegedly.

I'm reassured that, faced with a promise like 'ten inches of pure pleasure' the good bishop's mind went down exactly the same dirty alley as mine did; come to think of it, I find this a good deal more therapeutic than the creepy, creepy, 'Therapy Buddy'.

It was really, really unnerving, especially since it only came in through the left ear. It sounds like the sort of thing you get piped through the speakers in the Re-Education Center en route to the frontal lobotomy.

That's just unnerving! I look forward to the Simpson's Hallowe'en episode in which one comes to life.

That thing is seriously creepy.

But for some reason I find it immensely reassuring that the Bishop of Buckingham hath a blog. And I love his tags.

I'm sure there'd be a market for a cuddly bishop...

Yes, but would it have a string you could pull so that a voice said, "That would be an ecumenical matter"?

I see your Wimsey icon and raise you one. Don't have time to check out your links right now...am about to head off to London....but will remain intrigued until I return to home and internet access *grin*.

That voice. *shudders* I can't think of anything less good for my mental health than that just was!

*grins* As long as I never hear it again, I should be fine.
Do people actually find that comforting, I wonder? I'd personally sooner hug the Chuckie doll.

That's really horrible. Creepy voice, and awful, awful photo gallery.

On the other hand, I liked the whisky link quite a lot. There's a strange poetry to these descriptions of whisky...

"Is work causing undo anxiety?"

You know, it doesn't mean what they think it means, but I think I have experienced undo anxiety from time to time...

That is rather unnerving, isn't it?
