I know a lot of you read Chaucer-hath-blog anyway, but if you don't go and look at his latest entry, on TV pitches: http://houseoffame.blogspot.com/2007/11/chaucer-holy-wood-scabbe.html

I particularly like the last suggestion, with a wonderful link between the 'Wanderer' of Anglo-Saxon verse and a television dear to my heart, but his deeply controversial look at religious controversy, 'Sects in the Borough' is pretty funny, too.

Oh yes. The last suggestion has great commercial possibilities. I wonder why no one has thought of it before?

Oh, I love Chaucer's blog, but this latest entry just made me laugh out loud. Thanks for pointing it out.

I'm not enough of an honorary mediaevalist to be aware of the Wanderer, but it's clear that I should look him up now. As I commented over at [livejournal.com profile] the_marquis's journal, I like the idea of a certain other traveller rescuing Beowulf - but does he collect royalties from all the editions and film adaptations? Maybe that's why he turned down the Brig's offer of a salary.

I'd never actually read the Chaucer blog before-thank you for bringing it to my attention! Also, many thanks for posting The Kraken, which I'd heard about but never actually got round to reading...
