Do you remember that time we started a satirical magazine about the goings on in the Oxford theology faculty, and the Oxford diocese generally? Such a pity about the libel case...

I admit I probably shouldn't have written that story about the Bishop and - but if I say anymore it will start all over again. It wasn't so much the court case as that sinister chap in the black leather coat who rattled me, though.... ah, happy days.

What really worried me was when we started writing about all the rather heterodox RCs hiding amongst the faculty and they slowly started disappearing. Did the police ever find that strange albino monk who was hanging around at the time?

You get some very odd types on ERASMUS exchanges, don't you?

The police assured me he'd left the country; I think they said he went back to France. Just as well, really. Of course, we don't know he had anything to do with it, and I shouldn't be prejudiced against him just because he gave me the creeps, but I was glad when he left. You were right, though, we couldn't have predicted that would happen.

Mind you, thinking about that other business with the pickled cabbage, all I can say is it's a good thing that Quakers are strictly pacifist.
