The result is odd in a way, because I have never been to an Orthodox service in my life, but observation of the meme on various other blogs suggests that High Anglicans, unless they are raving Thomists (and most of them aren't, they're more fuzzy than that!), tend to score as Orthodox. Maybe our chaplain is right, and Anglican-Orthodox union really is the way forward for ecumenism (though I'm not sure how the Orthodox church would see it, and all too sure how our evangelicals would react....)

The Greek Orthodox Church had discussions in the late 1710s/early 1720s (give or take a decade) with what they thought was the Church of England about union. After a few years of correspondence they learned that they were actually dealing with the Nonjurors and not with the Established Church at all, and discussions trailed off.

Unquestionably!

As for chaplains, the impression I had of our chaplain, back in the day, was that there were aspects of Hinduism which should be Christianity's guide; but I was a shy undergraduate and didn't get involved in anything at college, so learned no more.

Whee! I came out strongly as Unitarian - which is exactly where I started out from.

Dunno. I got done by my Anglican Mum, which makes me a traitor at least twice over; because I think (judging by A Story Wot I Once Read in S&SF) means that all Pagan Deities can Smell It On me, and therefore run a mile.

*sigh* Back to tree-worshipping animism; and Loki (who accepts ANYONE).

To my amusement, I scored over 90% on Unitarianism and less than 25% on Catholicism. I seem to be repressing my upbringing fairly well.

I came out as a Calvinist, with a good skelp of Orthodox and Catholicism in there too. I was baptised a Methodist and brought up Catholic (don't ask!) -- which as I might have said before, my mother thinks makes me an Anglican...I've always been charmed by this, but maybe she's closer to the mark than I thought... It's all a bit academic since I'm firmly lapsed into agnosticism, but my general dislike of hugs & fluffy stuff and residual fondness for smells and bells makes my Unitarian score pitifully low.

I agree with your chaplain! Orthodoxy has already arranged for the Anglo-Catholic missal to be adapted (my current church used to be Anglican before it converted, and they use this rite) so it's canonical. There are I think only two really big obstacles: Anglicanism can be liberal in a way that Orthodoxy cannot accept, and there are some Orthodox who really believe that anything Western must. be. rejected. But still! It would be wonderful if Anglican-Orthodox would get together. Would freak the pope out, which is a mission I approve of.

What would we Evangelicals say?

Scored highest on Calvinism and Zwinglianism..I'm sure you're not surprised.

I once attended an Orthodox service in Athens. Afterwards, I was speaking to one of the clergy who spoke some English, and when I told him I was an Anglican he nodded vigorously and said, "Ah! British Orthodox!"
