Following on from the Personal Canon meme, I direct Narniaphiles who wonder, with trepidation, What Became of Susan, to this rather wonderful short fic by carlanime (the link goes to her fic journal). It turns what we think we know from canon on its head, and does so without canon-rape, gratuitous Lewis (or Susan) bashing, and without doing violence to the theological premises underpinning the Narnia-verse. A clever, moving vignette.

Thank you for posting this link. It's a very long time indeed since I read The Last Battle, but the fate of Susan is the controversy everyone seems to come back to. This is a more sophisticated response than one usually gets to see.

Yes, it's considerably more nuanced than almost everything I've read on the topic.

Incidentally, thanks for the package. It took me a while to figure out how to get it to play, but I have now done so, and am looking forward to seeing the whole thing this evening!
