What a self-congratulatory wally. I remember kids like him, though, who tried to curry favour with bullies by being naughty, and ended up being used as the fall guy in their pranks: they were always the most conventional and the most enslaved to ideas of pecking order. The sad thing is he doesn't seem to realise that's what he was even now.
