Gah. I really wanted to get up early and be productive today (as I need to be).

Unfortunately, I was woken at 3 AM by what - after I answered the phone in the state of panic you get when the phone rings at 3 AM - turned out to be a rather creepy drunk. Sleep proved rather hard to find for some time thereafter.

Thank you... these things are usually just one offs, but it doesn't make them any less unpleasant.

I wish there was a way to slam mobile phones down, though.

I can very much relate to your "Argh!!! No!" Just hope for the best, i.e. that creepy drunk was so drunk that he didn't even know whom exactly he was calling and doesn't remember your phone number.

Or, alternatively, that a flowerpot falls from the sky and hits his head today as poetic justice for such ridiculous and anti-social behaviour.

I'm tempted to say 'waste of a good flowerpot.' Some of the special ice occasionally accidentally dropped off planes might do... though I suppose it's likely to be fatal, which is probably a bit over the top....

An excellent way of coping, though I join in with others in hoping you won't have to (and good as the whistle may be, I would recommend that should you get a repeat, you get straight on to the anti-nasty calls people, whose official name I forget, but of whom I have heard good things).

Oh, I had that happen once. My boyfriend's mobile used to come up on mine as 'Unlisted', so when I got a call from 'Unlisted' at 3AM one night, it turned out to be someone screaming about some other guy trying to kill him...

I definitely had trouble sleeping after that.

Some people swear by keeping a loud whistle by the phone - a good blast on one of those can have a very gratifying effect, they tell me...
