More of the five things meme - finally, this time for [livejournal.com profile] nineveh_uk

Coming up with really exciting places/ times for the Doctor to visit was, I found, somewhat tricky - probably the result of too much choice!

1. I really want to know what happened to the other Time Lords, though I'm not sure I'd enjoy finding out - and it would be very angsty to force the poor old Doctor to revist his demons in this way.

2. On a British ship of the line in His Majesty's Navy during the Napoleonic Wars. (I suspect that this means that some part of me wants to write Who/ Patrick O'Brian crossover fic, though I can't imagine, straight off, what Lucky Jack Aubrey would do if he was confronted with the Doctor. And he thought Stephen was difficult to deal with....)

3. Heorot. I think there's great potential for Grendel actually to be a Sea Devil. (Even as I type this, I wonder if this has already been done... Because we didn't have a video at home, or a DVD player until recently, my knowledge of earlier Doctors is somewhat patchy, though this doesn't prevent me having stong opinons about which Doctors I like best.)

4. The 'Battle of the Poets' on the Wartburg in thirteenth century Thuringia, where a number of great German poets turned up to compete to be recognised as Top Poet. I don't know why - other than it's one of the few iconic events in literary history of that period that you can put a date to, but I think it could only be improved by adding a Time Lord to the mix. Especially if it was 3 or 9, though I suppose 5 might fit in better, given his recorder-playing habits...

5. On utterly selfish, though probably foolhardy grounds: Oxford, the present. As long as none of the pretty buildings get blown up, and the libraries survive. They can take St Catz any time they like though (apologises to any St Catz people out there.) Actually, on second thoughts the Magdalene annexe by the Plain probably ought to go first.

- that sounds like a cue for another list: top five buildings the daleks should blow up....

At least the Doctor comes with a companion who can explain him! Jack has to try to work out Stephen all on his own.

Goodness only knows what Jack Aubrey would make of Jack Harkness.
