LJ niggle

I know that this is pedantic of me, but LJ's habit of informing me that 'X is your mutual friend' is really annonying me.

Would it kill them to have 'You and X are friends' instead?

Possibly, but that's not what the term means!

Probably programmer-speak ... "mutual friend" being the designated LJ term for that situation, quite likely based on the use of the term in the similar situation of friend classes in object-oriented languages like C++. Which would be why it doesn't seem odd to me. :)

That's an interesting theory - the only language I've ever programmed in was Pascal, so...
