...I'm just not falling all over myself to "stay in communion" with people like this, because I don't think I was ever in communion with them in the first place -- and I'm sure they'd be disgusted at the idea of being in communion with me.
The sad thing is that it's this lot for whom ++Rowan "sold out" or "betrayed" his liberal friends and supporters.
It's worryingly similar to what I've read about Obama's attempts at fostering bipartisanship with people who (e.g.) believe he's really a sekrit foreign Muslim. You damage and piss off the people who actually agree with and support you, in favour of appeasing people who will NEVER agree with you. Or, apparently, compromise.
(Scare quotes because I know the situation is more complex.)
