A few quick thoughts on "Hungry Earth"

Not bad at all, though it did feel like a mashup of several Classic Who episodes at times (
parrot_knight elsewhere suggests this might mean they are planning to pull out the rug from under our feet...), particularly "Inferno" (the drilling debacle apparently having been covered up*) and "Silurians."
Lots and lots of Classic Who references (Eocenes!) I liked the Sea Devilesque mesh shirts.
I like Nasreen, I hope she survives (I expect her boyfriend's toast, though, and I assume he's going to be the person who tries to kill the trapped warrior).
Clever dyslexic kids FTW!
Dissection while conscious. CREEPIEST THING EVER. (Though presumably we're not going to get anything as disgusting as that bit in District 9, which did make me physically nauseous...)
It was actually set in Wales. Hurrah!
This is the second week running that the Doctor has got people to take shelter in a church. The church is getting quite a good press this series, one way and another, despite the Doctor's claims to dislike the Church as an institution.
Chibnall's best episode so far, though there were moments when I felt Amy was coming over a bit too much like Donna. Nice character stuff between her and Rory, though.
* Much like the Brigade Leader's eye...
