Harry suffers terribly from Doctor Watson syndrome - he's a bright man, but he's not a genius, so he looks slow compared to the bloke in the deerstalker (but, I think, both doctors understand some things that the geniuses are blind to... such as matters of the heart, which both Holmes and the Doctor have never quite understood!)
