  • 00:23 Had v jolly evening watching Battlefield with lareinenoire. Rather silly and campy (despite CND moment at end and Seven being twisty)... #
  • 00:24 ... and I'm a bit in love with Ancelyn. And Lethbridge-Stewart, of course, but that's old news. #
  • 00:25 And I did v much enjoy it, despite the daftness - tho I think my flatmate was rather appalled by my low-brow taste. #
  • 10:10 Off to church. And to buy more plasters :( #
  • 16:15 It's so. bloody. cold. Or rather, the wind chill factor is fierce. #
  • 16:20 @rj_anderson Yes, the Maniacal Mordred Laughter was a bit of a low point. (Morgaine's costume was a bit disturbingly Meatloaf video, too!) #
  • 16:56 Off to chapel for second Candlemas service of day. Here's hoping no-one sets fire to themselves... #

Thankfully I didn't set fire to myself. That being said I did enjoy Battlefield despite the camp -- okay, possibly because of the camp because I just work that way. And Ancelyn was adorable!

I wondered whether you had seen this upbeat review (http://community.livejournal.com/doctorwho/4386663.html?#cutid1) of Battlefield posted in the last few days...

I think that the budget for Battlefield was lower in real terms than that for Spearhead from Space. ISTR that after 1977 Doctor Who suffered a budget cut in real terms every year except 1980. Spearhead was perhaps helped by being made entirely on film rather than on the more usual mix of film and tape, while Battlefield was made entirely on tape.

second Candlemas service of day

Good lord, how many are you going to have all told?
Anyway, good luck if it snows...

I love Battlefield! It's mostly because of having Morgan le Fay flirting with the Brig, which is all kinds of awesome - "I see you are a warrior." The gold miniskirt is rather fearsome (I typed 'rearsome' there - Freudian slip if you ever saw one!) - and yes, Ancelyn is sweet. Also, is 'Winifred' a variant of Guinevere, and, if so, how do we interpret Brigadier Bambera?
