  • 23:16 I cannot imagine why I am so tired. Not for having got a lot of work done, alas. #
  • 08:18 Wait, what, the Tube is cleaned by hand every night after it closes? #
  • 08:20 By people called "fluffers"! tinyurl.com/9qlhhe Tube diary fascinating. #
  • 09:01 How can it be 9 AM? Wah! #
  • 11:35 And why can't I think of another word for 'differences'? #
  • 11:46 Also, every time I see LOL used as a verb ('I lolled'), I automatically think of Lollards. Netspeak and mediaevalism is a strange mixture! #
  • 11:47 LOLards? (Too much caffeine?) #
  • 12:26 Wondering why I have a bookmark called 'Sensual Encounters'. It turns out to be an e-book about 14th C Dominican nuns... story of my life! #
  • 12:50 Today's xkcd is brilliant - xkcd.com/530/ - the sort of thing I do. (I am not that leet, but miss the obvious for the complicated...) #
  • 14:47 Seriously, though, what _am_ I going to cook for dinner this evening? *ponders* #
  • 15:00 How did I go for being blocked on chapter section to having too many words? And I'm not even finished it yet! #
  • 15:18 A brother asked an old man questions about comforts (or pleasures), and the old man said unto him, "Eat grass, wear grass, and sleep on .... #
  • 15:18 ...grass, and then thy heart will become like iron." The Paradise of the Fathers.

Say what? Is that supposed to be good? #
  • 16:09 www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00glqx9 Sounds interesting, but who writes the blurbs? "Exotic and inscrutable religions of the Far East". #
  • 16:15 @rj_anderson Amazing, isn't it? I'm glad to know there's a reason the Tubes are off so long during the night, anyway! #
  • 17:22 I wrote 1100 words today! Go me! *does dance of achievement* #
  • 17:25 Though it's probably sad that I'm proud of that.... #
  • 21:06 @pellegrina See, now you know what Twitter is for ;) *sends consoling virtual cup of tea* #
  • 21:07 @rj_anderson Because I am prone to torturing myself with unrealistic expectations, probably. I hope your day picks up! #
  • 21:07 Srat - suspect i probably won't be able to make the TS Banquet :( #

[livejournal.com profile] finsterstern locked himself out of his flat just last Friday. He wondered if xkcd has its own satelite, pointed at Cologne last week. ;)

There was a documentary made in the early 1990s about Angel station, shortly before it closed for rebuilding, when it still had a single central platform and two tracks (a bit like the Glasgow clockwork orange); and London Underground were still employing the old female fluffers then, with jobs in some cases having been handed down from mother to daughter. How the PPP has wrecked tradition...

As you say, at least if you do have to miss it, it would be for a good reason :-)
