  • 22:56 Have plucked up my courage to listen to the crucifixion episode of "the Man Born to Be King", ... #
  • 22:57 ... which gets the 'you may find some of the scenes in this programme distressing' warning. They are probably right. #
  • 01:34 @rj_anderson There's a novel, apparently based on experience, from a woman called Poppy Shakespeare which was well reviewed (two years ago?) #
  • 10:00 Grr. Having great difficulty kicking back into 'productive academic writing' mode (back? hah!) #
  • 10:20 The storage heater turns out to work after all. However, having it on all night gives me a headache. Think I prefer being cold! #
  • 11:35 @ParrotKnight Coffee mysticism? That's a new one on me ;) #
  • 12:03 Anyone know what GLBTQIA stands for? I mean, GLBT is clear, and Q is presumably queer, but IA? #
  • 12:18 Damn it - now I want Currywurst and pommes for lunch. Probably a good job they aren't available. #
  • 12:46 Why do I often only get work done in the last 20 minutes before lunch? I could keep writing, but I'm too bloody hungry. Off to lunch. #
  • 14:29 Have spilt soup on my trousers - which were clean on - and also boiling water on one finger (not seriously burnt, happily). Not a good day! #
  • 18:42 Updating via mobile appears not to work. Probably typed number wrong. #
  • 19:24 @angevin2 *squee!!* #
  • 19:28 Have read "The Chalet Girls Grow Up". Interesting, but rather wholesale in a Thos Hardy-ish sort of way. The later Margot plot annoyed me! #

I found "The Chalet Girls Grow Up" too much of a dose of reality for my liking (having said that I have read it more than once so it's not that bad). A large part of the appeal of Chalet books for me now is the escapism.
