Hm. Am unsure, but we'll wait and see...

Anyone else find him vaguely reminiscent of Richard E Grant in Withnail? (Dad claims he's reminded of Tennant - I think it's the hand-waving - Mum finds him 'rather a shock after the dishy David, and of course he's not a son of the manse', but concedes that an odd looking Doctor is not necessarily a bad thing.)

Your mother is not the only lady of a certain age to refer to DT as 'dishy' :)

I tend to like them skinny and geeky, so, yeah, I do fancy Tennant. Although 'ishy' would not be my word of choice.

I warmed to him as the interviews progressed - he seems suitably mercurial - which is probably a good sign. I am still slightly disconcerted by being older than the Doctor, though.

(The sharp features and dark hair remind me of Tennant too... I was certain they'd pick somebody who would be significantly different-looking, like they did from 9 to 10, or 4 to 5. He isn't bad-looking though. And the only thing that really matters is... can he be the Doctor?)

Very true, and we won't know that until 2010 - though I suspect that he can.

Frankly I may be in the minority, but I never could endure David Tennant, hated his staring eye and over-expressions, and cannot understand what people see in him. Anyone who chews the scenery a bit less will be a relief, IMHO.

I liked Tennant, but there were moments when I felt he overdid the manic - though he still had quite a long way to go before he reached Tom Baker standards...
