What on earth would have happened had internet fandom existed when Hartnell's Doctor regenerated into the second Doctor?


... at any rate, flame wars, oceans of splooge, and polemic icons would have been involved....

I found myself telling someone the other day about how Conan Doyle tried to kill off Sherlock Holmes, but 'his fandom got really upset' so he had to bring him back. And then found myself explaining 'fandom'.

I hate to think what would've happened had 'net fandom existed, either for early Who, or for several other 'cult' tv/books.
