Decided to buy some Doctor Who. Remembered that Play.com is supposed to be cheaper, and noted with delight that it's about 60% cheaper than the list price and that they deliver to Europe for free. Put DVDs in basket, attempted to pay. Spent ten minutes trying to give address (before working out that they didn't like the hyphen, the backslash or the umlaut). Finally got to check-out basket- at which point the website cheerfully informed me that the items 'weren't available for delivery to Europe.'

*Sulks* Oh well, at least - thanks to the wonders of VPN - I got to watch Time Crash, which was silly but absolutely lovely. Of course, the sight of Peter Davison in the cricket garb was what got me trying to buy DVDs in the first place, but... we'll not go back over that.

Cricket! Celery! "You were my Doctor" *grins in a hopelessly silly manner*

I really do need a Peter Davison icon, don't I?

Otherwise, 'twas very, very good - I didn't mention in my own post that I thought the contrast between the two Doctors was as well drawn as the similarities, as the fifth Doctor lacks the tenth's cheekiness. He's from a time before geek was or needed to be chic.

The incidental music was good, too, with its occasional sampling of Radiophonic Workshop stings...

Can't you order it and let it be sent to your parents? You can pick it up when you are going to visit them for christmas...

Just a suggestion, that's what I did with a DVD box when I was in Oxford. ;)

*was browsing friendsfriends* This could be a stupid question but did you go to check-out in £? For orders outside UK you need to change your currency to euro before you go to pay, otherwise you get that error message. Or at least I remember coming across something similar on my first order after they introduced the change currency function although I had had a number of successful orders delivered to me in Finland previously. I think they do say it somewhere on the website although I don't remember it being anywhere very obvious/visible.
