Caught up on Discovery.

LOL Saru (this was as Lorca was describing his crew as bold warriors)

Yay Cornwell! I knew you weren't dead!

Ash is totally Voq.

Nice, Michael!

Starfleet pins as dog tags, nice.

Lorca, you magnificent bastard.

Yep, definitely Voq.

Lorca, you manipulative bastard.

Hugh is still mad, isn't he? I don't blame him.

Aaargh Stamets nooooo!*

They're in the Upside Down!

* I'm assuming he's dead, but maybe they're just going for blindness - foreshadowed by his conversation with Lorca about him always having him to thank for the view? I'd be happy if Stamets isn't dead, because he's really grown on me, but they'd better not be doing conveniently-reversible-at-the-end-of-the-next-episode blindness)

No real surprises there, but it was a lot of fun (one plot point apart) getting there... wherever there is.

I'm going with "blind" myself. That, or he'll turn Gary Mitchell on us, which, alas, would be a good reason why the spore drive won't be used in any other Trek incarnation.

I thought Gary Mitchell too, particularly after the 'Where No One Has Gone Before' line was used earlier.

They're in the Upside Down!

Hee! Now I really want to see the Disco team dealing with demodogs and giant Cthulhu-esque horrors in the sky. Preferably while one of them wields a nail-bat.

With you on Voq too - the flashbacks we see don't resemble what Ash is talking about or what other characters (well, Cornwell) think he's talking about.

I'm still yet to see a reason so good that Janeway wouldn't inject herself with tardigrade DNA and go. Buuuuuuut that maybe says more about her than the inherent dangers of the spore drive.

That's assuming Starfleet in Janeway's time has all the required data to replicate the spore drive available on files for all Starfleet captains to access. It's a supersecret project in the Discovery era, meaning that I suppose it's currently NOT downloadable for anyone, save for one particular secret server or something like that. (Because it wouldn't make sense to have Lorca possess the sole copy of the technology schemata.) My current guess is that by the end of the tale, our heroes will be so convinced that the spore drive MUST NEVER BE USED AGAIN for whatever reasons will become clear that they'll wipe out all existing copies. (Again, at a guess, Sarek as a high Federation official with access to supersecret vaults could come in handy there.)
