Jun. 8th, 2010 09:11 amIncidentally, I am exceedingly pissed off that ECUSA has been chucked off the Inter-Anglican Standing Committee on Unity Faith and Order, when Southern Cone, Nigeria, etc haven't (yet, anyway), whereas I am inclined to think that even if you don't accept homosexual bishops, interfering in the affairs of other provinces is a much more egregious breach of what it means to be Anglican, and if you're going to insist on applying sanctions in the interests of preserving unity, you should at least apply them equally.
This is not, I suspect, what ++Rowan envisaged, but I am inclined to think he should have anticipated it.

Date: 2010-06-08 05:11 pm (UTC)The worst of it is, I don't for a moment think he is, personally. He used to be good friends with Jeffrey John, before the shit hit the fan in Reading. But in some ways that makes it worse.
In some ways, I like ++Rowan a lot. He's a very good preacher and a fine theologian, but he is not suited to a big political job, which this is.
