Yeah, I know this plot could be cliched in quite a horrible way (shades of some of the worse post-Doomsday fic, perhaps?) - but I do think that for Peter, it all comes back to the war in the end. Although, despite the fact that the people who say DLS wrote her ideal man are over looking the fact that underneath it all, he's quite damaged, one can overdo that side of it.
