I've never heard of a fascia, but we wear cords around the waists of our albs, and we call those cinctures?

No, you see, we call those girdles. A cincture, in Anglican terms, is that broad sash thing worn over a cassock, sitting rather above the waist (I've seen pictures of the Pope wearing them, I think - but Wikipedia informs me they're called fascias, which seems a bit odd).

Ah, the complexities of specialist terminology *g*. Your cinctures sound like sort of cummerbund-ish things, then? I'm not sure I've ever seen one of those "in the wild"; they're certainly not something our friars use, so I'm not familiar with them.
