As for Tertullian in a sex scene, that clearly comes from the same lab from whence I once picked up the notion of "Jane Austenesue" slash.

I gather it was actually something along the lines of 'a sex scene in which one of the participants is thinking about Tertullian', but I'm not sure that makes things all that much less disturbing....

No - it's something analagous to 'Heilsgeschichte' and means something like 'the events [i.e. the acts of Christ] which cause our salvation', but I'm sure there ought to be a snappier term for it in English than that...

'Sanctification' is 'Heiligung', I think.
