  • 22:46 The Christian band were much better than I'd feared. A bit Meatloafy, but not bad. And they did also talk about poverty and injustice. #
  • 23:14 Though I feel like I've had a quite bizarrely varied day, in churchmanship terms. I am either a really good Anglican, or confused. #
  • 23:21 (You can make the obvious joke here yourself....) #
  • 23:47 Also, now gmail is giving me targeted ads for papal audience tickets. Nothing on Mandelson. Very sad. #
  • 10:28 Fascinating interview in Grauniad with Stella Rimmington. She seems v. sound. #
  • 16:42 I now have a new pair of trousers and have got the new "SHaring Knife" from the library. #
  • 16:44 And having made a possibly ill advised attempt at homemade Boston Beans (sitting cooking in the oven), it's time to go say evening prayer. #
  • 18:02 @debbieg Yes, the icon is very distinctive ;) #
  • 20:15 The trouble with the new PC ad is that it just inescapably recalls the Mac ad it's trying to parody. Suspect this is counterproductive. #
  • 20:16 @Sammee42 Glad to hear it! #
  • 20:18 Alas, my flatmate's boyfriend has come round for dinner, so no more Time Team for me.... :( #

I can send you the (well, ok, my) recipe for Boston Baked Beans, if you care to make a second attempt sometime. Although they're really best cooked in a bean pot.

You mean the obvious statement that a good Anglican IS very confused? All right, I will.

Glad they were tasty! My family's recipe followeth here (http://community.livejournal.com/recipecollectv/12487.html).
I can also send you the recipe for beans with cinnamon and italian sausage, which is certainly NOT traditional (though also tasty.)

Meantime, speaking of authenticity (and I realize I'm probably being stereotypical here): do you know of an old-fashioned recipe for oatcakes? I'm curious to know how they differ from the one I use.

The oatcake recipe, or the "with sausage and cinnamon"? The latter is now here, (http://community.livejournal.com/recipecollectv/12487.html#cutid2) although this time without any notes for non-US cooks.
