Leaving UNIT

“Well, Liz, I’m sorry you’re leaving, but I can’t say I’m surprised” the Doctor said, after the Brigadier, both surprised and somehow hurt, had gone. “You really did miss your own work, didn’t you?”
She nodded. He would understand, of course. “Awfully silly, I suppose, turning down the opportunity to see all these fascinating aliens, but…”
The Doctor hesitated. “You’re a much better scholar than I, you know.”
“How uncharacteristically humble!”
“Oh, I know far more about hundreds of things, of course. I have had certain advantages you will never have. But it takes more than that to make a scholar …”
