Jan. 18th, 2006 10:34 pmSo I somehow ended up taking Evensong tomorrow night. Still trying to decide whether I can manage to write a sermon.
The readings are appalling: Amos 9, which is God threatening to destroy the people of Israel ("Are ye not as Ethiopians to me?"), and ! Cor 7:25- end, which is Paul explaining why he thinks people shouldn't get married.
I'm probably just a dirty minded mediaevalist (or I've spent too long in HP fandom already, but I can't help feeling that Revised-Standard-Version-Paul's worries about married men being too concerned about 'pleasing their wives' could have been better phrased....
