Getting on with the holiness-as-norm paper. Rapidly falling prey to accide, though (otherwise known as the multiple temptations of LJ, Facebook and flicking through the Summa at random. It's really a much better read than I expected...).

Anybody seen anything interesting/ funny on the web recently?

ETA: Where the devil has the 'language' option gone from the Tools menu in Word? Why can I no longer spell-check in German? How do I get it back?

ETA 2: I can has draft. As yet it's fairly lousy, but I've got something to play with now. I wish my academic German was better...

I've fallen for browser games recently.
My favourites are www.travian.de, a mixture of Die Siedler and Age of Empires III. Quite slow going though.

Another thing is www.duels.com, you make an avatar, give it a weapon and let it fight against other avatars. Quite pointless, really, but immensely useful during dull hours at work (like now). ;)
If you decide to give it a try, pleasu use this as a recommendation link: http://www.duels.com/users/register/ute_dietrich

Edited for typos...

Skimming my friendslist in a state of advanced falling asleep, and for a moment there I thought you were "getting on with holiness, as normal."
Which was fairly boggling. *grins*

Interesting? The somewhat deranged comments thread on the Daily Telegraph site, commenting on the story that Britain was suffering from a brain drain. It managed to convince me that there probably was no serious problem, and that if there was, Telegraph readers (save for one or two sane specimens) had no idea what it was and were probably part of it.

I'm fasinated by the idea of a machine for measuring the exact amount of pressure you need to wake up a penguin. I'm picturing something Heath Robinsonish using lots of badly knotted string, several pulleys, a fiendishly complicated counterweight system and a teaspoon.

And two researchers vanishing into the distance.

I wonder what the bill for penguin-inflicted injuries was? Serve them right, too.

So I am not the only one who favors procrastination over academic work? ;-)

If you need someone to check your paper for proper academic German, tell me. However, as I have no clue whatsoever when it comes to theology, I'm not sure how much of a help I'd be...
