Name one character from any fandom I know and I will give you three facts about them from my personal canon.
Fandoms: Harry Potter, Doctor Who (though I reserve the right to do someone else here; I don't know canon well enough for Doctors 5-8 to be confident of being able to do their companions): I'd also be keen to have a crack at: Star Treks TOS and DS9, Dalziel and Pascoe (book canon only, obviously), Life on Mars, Patrick O'Brian, Swallows and Amazons, Narnia, and John Buchan's Richard Hannay-verse.
ETA: and the Wimsey-verse, of course!

1. Even when things were rockiest, she never seriously thought about leaving Peter. She's not sure whether this is a good thing, or not.
2. She writes fanfic (yes, I know, practially canon), but would never show it to anyone. No, not even random strangers on the internet ;) She continues to do so even when working on original fic.
3 (In a different universe to my D&P/LoM crossover). She enjoyed Life on Mars, but is rather disturbed by how strongly she is reminded of Peter and Fat Andy. Though it has to be admitted that Andy, though considerably less sexy than Phillip Glennister, is also a lot less bad than Gene...

1 Has really awful taste in whisky. His wife once bought him a bottle of Jura for his birthday. he didn't like it much.
2 His wife is a charming, rather delicate woman, who has led a very sheltered life, and Gene, though he'd never admit it to the team, worships the ground she walks on. She has very little idea of what he's like at work, and Gene would do almost anything to keep the sordid reality of the job from her.
3 If he had gone to Hogwarts, he'd have been a Hufflepuff.

#2 is particularly lovely. I've never been quite sure whether I'd put Gene in Hufflepuff or Slytherin; he has an understanding of necessary evils that I always think of as Slytherin, but then he also has tremendous loyalty and (as far as we've seen) not a great deal of personal ambition. (Sam, of course, is a Gryffindor)

Sam is totally a Gryffindor - actually, in a lot of ways, both good and bad, he reminds me of Hermione.
I'm glad you like 2 - I'm quite convinced of it, and will be very upset if Ashes to Ashes josses it. Actually, I think I might be upset by Ashes to Ashes anyway...
