For now, I'd like to pick the flist's collective brains about computer hardware. I'd like to buy an external harddrive, as my photo collection is getting out of hand (I run Mac OS 10.3 on an iBook G4). Anyone have any reccommendations?

I'd also really like to know what the hell I did with my USB stick after I last backed up my work... but I suspect I'm on my own resources, there!

Well, knowing users have had good experiences of a partiular product is always worth knowing! At the moment I've been leaning towards LaCie, but they seem fairly expensive, so I'll take a gander at Seagate. Thanks!

Yes, I think that price was quite a decisive factor for me. But range and comparative prices here and in the UK probably differ.

Yes, my experience has been good so far. But as I said, I just haven't really used it enough so far to tell if that will continue. Anyway, I'm not really sure what distinguishes one metal box from another :)

But at least I can say that I do heartily recommend the external hard drive thing in general.
