Thank you. Hathaway is Lewis' sidekick. He was training to be a priest, but dropped out after ruining a gay friend's life (that's the 'Will' mentioned; he later commits suicide) by telling him (active) homosexuals will be punished by God. Very interesting character, and so ar (only 2 series as yet) they've done quite well in sparing us too much detail so they don't get the religious bits horribly wrong.
I have a weak spot for religious characters, particularly tortured ones.
